Hunter Winfield's was originally owned by Calvin Carlson prior to 1946, some of his relatives stop by on occasion and reminisce about working here as children. Calvin was responsible for most of the existing structures on the property.

In 1946, Howie and Lue Severson purchased the resort, calling it Severson's Resort. It stayed that until 60 years later when in August 2006, Margie Landis and Jason Hunter purchased the resort, naming it Hunter Winfield's. (Winfield's after Margie's late grandfather).

Jason was in a fatal accident later that year. Margie continued on at the resort and in 2008 married Mike Christensen, a professional fishing guide. Later in 2008 we welcomed daughter, Claire Anne Chrstensen.
